With emotion picture Dirty Computer out this week, Janelle Monae sat down with Rolling Stone to talk life and music,in the process addressingher sexuality and confirming that pansexual is the labelthat she finds feelsmost right for her.

Although Janelle's music has previously alluded to her sexuality -in particular the music video for PYNK, which celebrates all things vagina - she has previouslychosen not to discuss her private life in public.

Speaking frankly about sexuality and what it's like to be LGBTQ and making music in the US given the current political climate, Janae said:"Being a queer black woman in America,someone who has been in relationships with both men and women – I consider myself to be a free-ass motherfucker."

Explaining that although she initially identified as bisexual, she goes on to clarify:"but then later I read about pansexuality and was like, ‘Oh, these are things that I identify with too.' I'm open to learning more about who I am."

However if you're wondering if Janellealso confirmed whether she is or isn't dating Tessa Thompson, who recently co-starred in the PYNK music video and will feature throughout the emotion picture for Dirty Computer, she refused to comment.

Which is totally fair enough -even if it won't necessarily stop us all wondering.
