A band that features on the soundtrack of Netflix’s hit teen drama 13 Reasons Why has slammed the show.

Car Seat Headrest may feature on the show but they are clearly not fans of it.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, the American band had some rather choice words to say.

“As someone who contributed to the soundtrack for "13 Reasons Why", I am obliged to tell you all that it's kind of fucked,” the band wrote online.

“Writers: please don't tell kids how to turn their miserable and hopeless lives into a thrilling and cathartic suicide mission,” they continued.

“Kids: this is not a narrative you need to subscribe to. go watch 'spring breakers' instead,” they added.

13 Reasons Why has proven to be controversial since it was released on the streaming site in March.

The show tells the story of Hannah Baker (played by Katherine Langford) who takes her own life and then leaves 13 tape recordings explaining her decision.

The show is produced by Selena Gomez – and has, overall, received high praise from critics and fans alike.
