The 13 Reasons Why Cast Had Therapy Dogs To Help Them Through Traumatic Scenes
Dogs heal all.
While filming 13 Reasons Why was always going to be an intense experience, Dylan Minnette, who plays Clay in the series, has revealed that the cast had emotional support dogs to help them get through the hardest scenes.
Explaining that the producers had a puppy-driven approach to emotional support, he told PopSugar: "They had therapy dogs on set. There was a puppy per hour. They really tried to help out. The puppies helped."
Adding that Katherine Langord, who played Hannah, had the most difficult scenes to film, he said: "She had the brunt of the emotional stuff. I mean, we all have very emotional parts, but this is about her character."
In the same interview, Katherine said she's proud of how the cast dealt with such an important topic: "We cover so many intense issues. I feel like so much of Hannah's life, especially the last five episodes, is so tragic that you just have to put that shock aside and get through it. It's only been after the show and after wrapping that I've gone, wow, we really did handle some really heavy stuff.
She added: "I'm really proud of how we handle it, because as you said we don't shy away from them."
