A new Home Office report has said there should be stronger restrictions on when some music videos are shown.
The Government commissioned London Metropolitan University psychologist Dr Linda Papadopoulos to research the ‘growing sexualisation of young people.’
The report criticises lyrics by acts including 50 Cent
and N Dubz
and says that their videos on channels like MTV
should only be shown after 9pm.
It’s claimed that sexual references are most likely to be seen in rap-rock, rap, rap-metal and R&B videos. However the report also states that the images can be found across all music genres.
Also criticised in the report were lads magazines like Zoo and Nuts, computer games and other types of TV shows.
