7 Of The Best Things That Happened On Adele’s World Tour

Why must all good things come to an end?

After 13 months, Adele Live – Adele’s 2016/2017 tour – finally came to a halt in New Zealand, with only her four homecoming shows in London left to go.

118 sold-out performances later, we feel like we’ve gotten to know the Hello singer better than ever before, and there have been no shortage of headlines from her nightly on-stage antics.

In celebration of Adele’s 29th birthday on May 5th, here are seven of the best things that happened during Adele Live 2016/2017.

1.Adele brought an autistic girl on stage to sing with her in Manchester

Twelve-year-old Emily Tammam was plucked from the crowd after Adele saw her banner, which read, “It is my dream to sing with Adele”. The audience was amazed by her rendition of Someone Like You, with Emily’s dad telling Manchester Evening News, “Adele was very nice to do that, she clearly didn’t have to do it.

“Emily said she wants to show people that have disabilities or mental issues they can still do mainstream things like singing; they should not be stopped from doing them.”

2.She invited a lookalike fan on stage in Birmingham

Doppelganger Emily Bamforth had a lovely chat with Adele, before the two posed for a selfie. Nothing like meeting your long-lost twin, eh?

3.She gave Beyoncé a shout-out in Copenhagen

“How is it even possible that she only ever gets better? How is that possible?” Adele pondered with her crowd.

“Beyoncé is the sickest artist around in the whole entire world. It’s unbelievable. I’ve been listening to her for 17 years and she’s still making music that blows my mind.” You and us both, Adele.

4.She told a camera-happy fan to stop filming her and enjoy the show IRL in Verona

Perhaps following her girl crush Beyoncé’s lead, Adele told a fan, “Could you stop filming me with that video camera? Because I’m really here in real life, you can enjoy it in real life rather than through your camera.”

That’s one we could all do well to remember!

5.She spiced up her fans’ lives in Amsterdam

In a hilarious moment between the singer and her adoring audience, a chant of ‘Spice Girls’ then lead to Adele singing the chorus of Spice Up Your Life, accompanied by some dancing we’re sure Mel B would be proud of.

6. Adele found a novel way to get through a power cut in Adelaide

While some artists would have struggled to keep their cool when faced with a power cut, Adele passed the time in truly British fashion: by telling dirty jokes.

7.A man proposed to his boyfriend on stage in Melbourne

There were A LOT of proposals over the course of Adele Live – her music just lends itself so well to romance, you know? One of the last proposals during the March 19th show saw Wade Nicholson-Doyle propose to his partner Chris, who of course said yes – much to the delight of a cheering Adele. "It was unbelievable," Wade told Fairfax Media. "We'll never forget it."
