British pop phenomenon Adele is in contention for an Oscar for Best Song, along with Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera and Arcade Fire's Abraham's Daughter from The Hunger Games and Karen O's Strange Love from Frankenweenie.
The nominations will be announced on 10 January, with the awards ceremony being held on 24 February.
