Albert Hammond Jr Kicks off UK Tour

READER REVIEW: How did the just-gone-solo Strokes guitarist fare during his first gig?

In the first of our reader reviews, Dean Fallon, 26 from Birmingham went to see Albert Hammond Jr at the Birmingham Carling Academy...

Albert Hammond Jr chose Brum to play his first solo gig last night (November 22) - and the Strokes man didn't disappoint.

Backed by a tight, four-piece band, the curly-haired dude rocked through a set list including stormers 'Everyone Gets A Star', 'Bright Young Thing' and 'Blue Skies'.

And despite a few fluffed lines to begin with - well, you can't blame him for being nervous - the catchy riff-laden tunes bore all the right marks of Hammond's other band.

The crowd were kinda quiet to begin with but by the end of the 45-minute set they'd warmed up. At one point, the rocker addressed us, "This is really strange. But in a good way".

He may have looked a bit of a fish-out-water to begin with but we don't reckon it'll be too long till this kind of thing is water of a duck's back for Jr.

The set list was:

'Everyone Gets A Star'
'Bright Young Thing'
'Call An Ambulance'
'101'
'In Transit'
'Scared'
'Blue Skies'
'Holiday'
'Postal Blowfish'
'Hard To Live In The City'
'In My Room'

'DF'
