Alesha Dixon Quits Strictly Judging Panel
Pop star-turned dancing judge leaving hit BBC show for pastures new...
A spokesperson for the broadcaster said: "We wish her all the best, she has done three very successful series with us and we look forward to announcing our new line-up in due course."
There was a storm of controversy when she was appointed to the judging panel back in 2009, replacing veteran choreographer Arlene Phillips. Accusations of sexism and ageism were levelled at the BBC and the affair was even mentioned in Parliament.
But while many viewers were initially hostile, former series winner Alesha eventually won most of them around and became a familiar fixture on the show.
Her last album The Entertainer only peaked at No. 84 in the Official UK Albums Chart in 2010 so we doubt she's leaving Strictly to revive her pop career. Rather we hear a whisper that she's got another high-profile TV job.
