Alesha Fronts Nickelodeon Bullying campaign…

Ms Dixon tells us why she feels so strongly about speaking out against the bullies

Alesha Dixon has told MTV.co.uk she decided to get involved in an anti-bullying project after reading messages from bullied fans on her My Space site.

"One of the saddest letters I received was from a 17-year-old guy who was doing his A-levels. He was more scared of going into school than he was about doing his exams," says the singer.

I reply to all my My Space messages from fans but I wanted to do more which is why I got involved.

The singer says that even though she was one of the people who stood up to bullies as a teenager, even she wasnt immune.

"There were a gang of girls who used to intimidate me when I was about 16. We used to hang out in the same club but I was always scared they'd attack or abuse me.

Bullying consumes your mind completely which is why you need to say something to someone - because bullies thrive on fear and when you speak up you take away their power."

Alesha has teamed up with Nickelodeon to support its new anti bullying initiative "See Something, Say Something".
