Blur bassist Alex James has made his directional debut, unveiling short film A Slice Of Life.
The clip, which was also scripted, scored and features James himself, celebrates the launch of Virgin Media Shorts 2013 - the UK's biggest short film competition, held in association with Nikon.
Alex shot the 2 minute and 20 second film last month in Los Angeles and was given just a camera and the theme 'Life Is Short' to create the clip.
The video - which sees the star get hit by a bus - has also written an exclusive track titled Superordinator for the film’s soundtrack.
Speaking of the film, James said; "I've always been interested in film but had never got around to trying it for myself. Like everything else, it starts with an idea and as music is so much a part of my life, it quickly became the focus of the short.
"I was in LA listening to the track on my headphones. The more I listened to it, the more it chimed with the sunshine and atmosphere of the city."
He added: "So I decided to make a film about being carefree and happy, with a punchline that brings it all back to earth - the concept being life is short, but music endures. I really enjoyed the whole film-making process, it was very accessible and a lot of fun."
