The Final Two Divergent Movies Have Completely New Names!
But what do they tell us about how it will all end?
Allegiant, the third movie in the Divergent series, has a NEW MOVIE TITLE!
The final instalment in the Shailene Woodley and Theo James sci-fi series will be split into two movies – but won’t be called The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 1 and The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 2 as previously planned.
Instead, as MTV.com reveals exclusively, the movies will be called The Divergent Series: Allegiant and The Divergent Series: Ascendant (with no numbered ‘parts’).
Along with the renamed films rounding off the series, the movies have new logo artwork which we can now reveal!
One question on fans' lips now is WILL THIS ALSO CHANGE THE ENDING FROM THE BOOKS?
The tag line on the Ascendant poster is “The End Is Never What You Expect”. Given that the ending in the books is VERY CONTROVERSIAL, this teases that fans might be right to expect a different ending in the movie series to the story they’ve already read.
Or at least, one can dream.
We’ll have to wait until the last two movies to see whether they really do diverge from the book’s plot. The Divergent Series: Allegiant hits cinemas on 18 March 2016, and The Divergent Series: Ascendant will end the adventure on 24 March 2017.
