American Idol: Final Two Contestants Revealed
SPOILER ALERT: Result comes as judge Randy Jackson announces departure...
American Idolhopefuls have finally been narrowed down to just two - who will do battle in the show's grand finale next week.
Angie Miller was sent home after polling the lowest number of votes in this week's semi-final, leaving Kree Harrison and Candice Glover going head-to-head for the crown.
Harrison, a 22-year-old country singer from Texas, said she thought host Ryan Seacrest had misread the results when she learned she was in the final.
"I was so happy and shocked at the same time. I feel like we all deserve to win this. But it's just America's vote. Wow, I'm just humbled and feel amazing all at the same time."
And 23-year-old Glover, the R&B sensation from South Carolina, was similarly stoked.
"When I heard my name, I said, 'Oh my gosh, American Idol finale.' Everything that I've been through on this show suddenly started to play back in my mind, like being here in Season 9, Season 11 and then now in the Top 2 in Season 12.
"That is absolutely amazing. Oh my gosh, I can't tell you how excited I am."
The all-female final means the show will have its first lady winner since Jordin Sparks back in season six.
Meanwhile 19-year-old Angie Miller was reflective in the wake of her elimination.
"It's bitter and sweet," she told reporters. "I definitely thought that with the whole hometown visit and how huge social media has been... I did feel kind of confident that I was going to make it."
Meanwhile, in other Idol news, veteran judge Randy Jackson has confirmed that he is leaving the show after this season.
He said in a statement: "Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to rest, after twelve years of judging on American Idol I have decided to leave after this season.
"I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It's been a life-changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures."
We told you yesterday how execs on the show are reportedly planning to axe the entire judging panel.
And a source on the show has apparently now told E! News that Mariah Carey is definitely departing as well.
"Yes, we want to do a whole new panel - but just like last time around, it depends on who we get," the insider said.
