The first of the 10 finalists has been given his marching orders from this week'sAmerican Idol.
Curtis Finch Jr polled the least votes after the first week of the live finals - prompting judge Nicki Minaj to threaten to quit herself.
Venting her unhappiness with gospel singer Curtis' exit, she got up from her chair and declared: "If you're going home, I'm going home."
But fortunately for fans she soon calmed down and retook her position on the panel.
The results were announced in order of votes gained for the first time in the show's history - although the top three of Angie Miller, Candice Glover and Kree Harrison were lumped together.
From fourth to ninth the results were: Lazaro Arbos, Amber Holcomb, Janelle Arthur, Burnell Taylor, Paul Jolley and Devin Velez.
