American Idol Hopefuls Take On Bacharach

SPOILER ALERT: The six remaining contestants tackle two songs apiece...

American Idol have each performed two songs for the first time as they prepare to be whittled down to just five.
First up the acts had to deliver a track by legendary songwriting duo Burt Bacharach and Hal David - followed by a song which they wished they had written themselves.
Amber Holcomb and Candice Glover impressed the most in the first round - performing I Say A Little Prayer and Don't Make Me Over respectively.
But the sole remaining male in the contest, Lazaro Arbos, was criticised for his off-key rendition of (They Long To Be) Close To You - with Randy Jackson summing things up by saying : "No. No. No. That was horrible."
Round two saw Angie Miller impress as she played the piano while singing Kari Jobe's Love Came Down, with Kree Harrison also making a good impression as she performed Kris Kristofferson's Help Me Make It Through The Night.
But it was Candice Glover who stole the entire show as she finished with a cover of The Cure's Love Song (inspired by Adele's cover).
Randy called it "one of the greatest performances on any talent show, ever" - while Mariah Carey just let the glitter do the talking by walking up to the hopeful and chucking a handful of the sparkly stuff over her.
