American Idol: Third Contestant Voted Off

American Idol, leaving just seven hopefuls.

Devin Velez, an 18-year-old from Chicago, became the latest contestant to get the boot from the US reality show - having found himself in the bottom three with Lazaro Arbos and Burnelle Taylor.

The eight contestants had this week tackled songs from Detroit - with a focus on Motown.

And unfortunately for him, his leaving performance of Somos Novios (It's Impossible) was not enough to convince the judges to use up their single "save" of the series.

One Republic were the week's musical guests - being joined by former Idol runner-up Katherine McPhee on stage.

The show will be screened on 5* this evening in the UK.
