Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr Confirmed For American Idol

After months of rumours and speculation, Fox confirmed today that Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr. will judge the upcoming season of American Idol!

 

The pair will sit alongside returning judge Keith Urban on the panel when the competition returns to screens early next year.

 

 

Lopez rejoins the panel after previously judging seasons 10 and 11, while Connick Jr has made several appearances as a special guest on the hit show in the past.

 

Connick Jr said in a statement: "I have always been a huge fan of American Idol and really enjoyed my time as a mentor on the show, and I am honoured that they've asked me to be a judge this season.

 

"As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to American Idol, and to help emerging performers find their way."

 

 

The network also confirmed that Randy Jackson will return to the show in a mentoring capacity.

 

Jackson said: "Surprise, surprise! I am so happy to be back as part of this amazing show that started it all. The original talent show is back with a vengeance and ready to discover the best talent in America."

 

Auditions are due to begin today in Boston, with the show slated to hit screens in January 2014.
