Jennifer Lopez Quits American Idol
Tearful singer confirms she's leaving the show after two years...
Jennifer Lopez has announced she is leaving American Idol, just a day after fellow judge Steven Tyler revealed he was quitting the show.
The Latino singer had hinted that it might be "time to go" on the Today show yesterday - and, according to US gossip site TMZ, she confirmed the news in an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his US radio show On Air With Ryan Seacrest.
J.Lo told the Idol host: "When I signed on to Idol I signed on for one year and I wound up doing two years because I just fell so in love with the show, everybody there... and I didn't know I'd be so moved emotionally by working on the show."
The tearful On The Floor singer added: "Something has to give. I really was dreading this phone call, and you're gonna make me cry."
Explaining her decision to quit, Jen said: "I honestly feel the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that I do that I have kinda put on hold because I love Idol so much.
"I could keep just doing Idol for the rest of my life but that would be giving up a bunch of other things. We had an amazing run."
It may not be the last Idol fans see of J.Lo though.
She insisted she'd happily come back for a guest spot, telling Seacrest: "I feel like no matter what you guys need over there, I'm always gonna be here.
"There's just that tie there; I just don't know if I could be there every single day."
According to US gossip site TMZ, rumours have surfaced that last judge standing Randy Jackson may also throw in the towel.
