Phillip Phillips Surgery Postponed Due To Illness
The American Idol champ is suffering from a severe sinus infection...
American Idolwinner Phillip Phillips has reportedly been forced to reschedule a planned kidney operation after falling ill.
According to TMZ, Phillips - who had eight operations for chronic kidney problems during his time on Idol - was scheduled to have a ninth procedure yesterday (29th May).
However, the operation has now been moved to early next week as Phillips is thought to be suffering from a severe sinus infection, which has left the singer with high fever.
Phillips - who beat Jessica Sanchez to the America Idol crown last week - suffers from recurring kidney stones which are too large to pass through his system, meaning they must be removed surgically.
The 21-year old has previously addressed his health woes, telling E! News that he almost quit Idol: "I had some bad days and I had some pretty good days.
"It was rough at times, and there were a couple of times I thought about going ahead and getting out and getting the surgery done."
"But I had a lot of great doctors and a lot of great people who helped me out through it. I'm blessed to have that. I came close to almost dropping out to get the surgery done, but my doctors helped me out a lot through it."
