The American Idol champ is suffering from a severe sinus infection...

American Idolwinner Phillip Phillips has reportedly been forced to reschedule a planned kidney operation after falling ill.
According to TMZ, Phillips - who had [uuid=bbb6ba3e-c4c5-40b3-afcf-09f3b3410105]eight operations for chronic kidney problems[/uuid] during his time on Idol - was scheduled to have a ninth procedure yesterday (29th May).

However, the operation has now been moved to early next week as Phillips is thought to be suffering from a severe sinus infection, which has left the singer with high fever.
Phillips - [uuid=cdb1c83a-b20f-4f98-9607-8d7cd47002cd]who beat Jessica Sanchez[/uuid] to the America Idol crown last week - suffers from recurring kidney stones which are too large to pass through his system, meaning they must be removed surgically.
The 21-year old has previously addressed his health woes, [uuid=bbb6ba3e-c4c5-40b3-afcf-09f3b3410105]telling E! News that he almost quit Idol[/uuid]: "I had some bad days and I had some pretty good days.
"It was rough at times, and there were a couple of times I thought about going ahead and getting out and getting the surgery done."
"But I had a lot of great doctors and a lot of great people who helped me out through it. I'm blessed to have that. I came close to almost dropping out to get the surgery done, but my doctors helped me out a lot through it."
