Amy Schumer Quits The Barbie Movie
Well this sucks.
Well this sucks! Just a few months back, we were super hyped to learn that Amy Schumer would be starring in a new Barbie movie, but sadly, it turns out that the star’s busy schedule has chucked a spanner in the works…
“Sadly, I'm no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts," said Schumer in an official statement. "The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I'm bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen.”
It’s a bit of a choker since Schumer was planning to write the script along with her sister Kim, with the film set to tackle the kind of body-shaming frequently aimed at Amy on social media. With Sony having to go right back to the drawing board, hopefully they can find a replacement willing to pick up the baton on that one…
In the meantime, fans can look forward to Schumer’s double-act with Goldie Hawn in Snatched, with the action comedy set to hit UK screens on 19 May 2017.
