Amy Willerton: 'I Didn't Want To Be The Next Katie Price'
I'm A Celebrity star opens up on why she split-up with Joey Essex...
Amy Willerton has opened up about Joey Essex and confessed that she didn't want to be "the next Katie Price".
The 21-year-old beauty queen, who ironically won Sky TV's Signed By Katie Price in 2011, told The Sun that she was worried her relationship with the former The Only Way Is Essex star would be too high profile.
She admitted to the newspaper that their romance had been real, saying: "We kissed for the first time in his bedroom after the show wrap party and we spent the night together.
"One day we went to Seaworld together and we held hands, but only when people weren't watching because we wanted to keep what was happening secret."
But she revealed that she'd felt she was being pushed into a media relationship when they arrived back in Blighty.
"But back in London, everything started to fall apart," she explained.
"Before we left, it felt very boy-meets-girl, but reality hit and suddenly there was all this pressure on us.
"It felt like if we were going to be together, we had to be committed to the relationship, because we'd be presented to the world as the Joey and Amy show.
"Joey and his team were keen for that to happen, but I was worried if things went wrong we would be stuck with each other and then drive each other crazy.
"I did still toy with the idea, because I like Joey. But I didn’t want to feel like I'd been shoved at him with someone saying, 'Here you go — this is your new missus'."
And she admitted she was reluctant to follow in the footsteps of her one-time mentor.
"I want a real, normal relationship where everything happens naturally and you are just allowed to be.
"I didn't want to be the next Katie Price and Peter Andre. And I gradually realised that could never happen for us."
