Amy Winehouse Tribute Statue Given Green Light

Plans for a life-sized tribute toAmy Winehouse in her hometown of Camden have been given the go ahead by the council.

Back in June 2012, a spokesperson for the Roundhouse on Chalk Farm Road said: "We think it's important that Amy's contribution to music is recognised in Camden, but the idea is in its early stages of development at the moment."

Her dad Mitch also backed the idea, with Town Hall planners now giving the green light to the bronze statue - by designer Scott Eaton - which will stand on the first floor balcony outside the music venue.

The Sun reports that it will see the Rehab singer wearing a short dress and leaning against the wall as she looks or points towards the North London district.

Mitch previously said of the plans: "It will be bronze, life-size, and on the first-floor balcony next to the Roundhouse bar.

“What we’d like to have is Amy leaning over the balcony and looking, and perhaps pointing, towards Camden Town from Chalk Farm Road.”
