Speaking on the social networking site, he tweeted: "Just been told. Amy at Number One... My heart is sad but bursting with pride. Mitch."
He later added that the record has already made a generous amount for his charity, the Amy Winehouse Foundation, stating: "140,000 sold £140,000 to foundation in one day. Well done baby."
Earlier this week, Mitch told ITV show Daybreak that listening back to the late 27-year old's album [uuid=be4b2b03-0c5b-46df-aafc-b26ab38968da]was "very emotional"[/uuid], adding: "We had to sit through it and after the first couple of songs we sort of calmed down a little bit."
Amy was found dead at her home in Camden, North London in July, with an [uuid=50a39774-14a2-4426-be78-9e5048054b77]inquest giving the verdict of misadventure[/uuid] after she was five times over the drink-drive limit at the time of her death.
