Mitch Winehouse: "Amy Was The Happiest She Had Been"
The late singer's father claims she was "the greatest daughter"...
In her eulogy released after Amy's funeral at Edgwarebury Cemetery in North London, Mitch described how his daughter was in "good spirits" and had finally managed to kick her drink and drug addiction.
Mitch said of the Love Is A Losing Game hitmaker: "She was the happiest she has been for years. She was not depressed."
"She saw [her mum] Janis and [her boyfriend] Reg [Traviss] on Friday and was in good spirits. That night, she was in her room, playing drums and singing."
He continued: "Three years ago, Amy conquered her drug dependency, the doctors said it was impossible but she really did it. She was trying hard to deal with her drinking and had just completed three weeks of abstinence."
"She said, 'Dad I've had enough, I can't stand the look on your and the family's faces anymore'. Knowing that she wasn't depressed, knowing that she passed away happy - it makes us all feel better. Amy was the greatest daughter, family member and friend you could ever have."
The 27-year old's boyfriend, Reg Traviss, also previously addressed Winehouse's "upbeat" behaviour before her passing, telling The Sun that she was looking forward to attending a wedding this weekend.
Winehouse's body was found at her Camden home on Saturday afternoon by her security guard. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem took place on Monday, but no cause of death was determined and further toxicology tests results could take up to four weeks.
An inquest into her death has since been opened, but has been adjourned until 26th October.
The likes of Mark Ronson and Kelly Osbourne attended Amy's funeral yesterday, where Mitch ended the touching tribute with the words: "Goodnight, my angel, sleep tight. Mummy and Daddy love you ever so much."
Our thoughts are with Amy's family and friends at this sad time.
