Winehouse Gets Divorced
The singer should have shot of him by this afternoon…
Amy Winehouse looks set to be officially divorced from this afternoon.
The Back To Black singer, who returned to London this week after eight months in the Caribbean, is being divorced by her estranged husband Blake Fielder-Civil, whom she has had no contact with for months.
Blake started divorce proceedings in January while he was in jail.
A judge is expected to award Civil the necessary decree this afternoon (July 16) at the Family Division of the High Court in London. According to British marriage laws, the couple will have to wait six weeks and a day before the divorce becomes final.
Though the exact reason for the divorce is not yet known, Civil is expected to cite adultery, after pictures emerged of Amy snuggling up to another man while on extended holiday in St Lucia.
It’s also unclear as yet whether Blake will try and get his grubby hands on Winehouse’s £10million fortune. "She is ready to move on following the end of the marriage,” a spokesperson for Winehouse said earlier.
“Amy has not had any contact with Blake for months and is focusing on the future. She is finishing her album and in good health."
Amy married the former grammar school boy in 2007 after meeting him in a pub in Camden. His antics are said to have inspired many of the singer’s hits, including Tears Dry On Their Own.
