Andre 3000 has said he found a real kinship with Jimi Hendrix whilst playing the guitar wild child.

Speaking from the red carpet of thefilm's LA premiere the Hip hop legend said of his shy character: "Hendrixenjoyed the opportunity to make the music. I don't know how he'd feel in this time, with camera phones and paparazzi."

On the subject of Hendrix's reluctance to be cast a star or celebrity the rapper added: "As far as the music, making the music, I guess there's a kinship. And knowing what it feels like to be a shy person from the beginning."

The film is said to tell the entire story of how the incredibly talented guitarist become one of the world's most reknown and celebrated rock stars.
