Andrew Garfield Insists His Comments About Being A Gay Man Were Taken Out Of Context
The actor faced criticism when he said he was "a gay man without the physical act."
Andrew Garfield is currently starring in a theatre production as a gay man and naturally he has been pretty open about his own sexuality when discussing his role, however he insists that some of his comments have been taken way out of context.
During a wider discussion about his play, Angels In America, Andrew made a comment that he was currently "a gay man without the phsyical act" which led some to jump down his throat for trivialising the matter.
Well now the 33-year-old has spoken out to defend his comments, insisting that all he meant was that he's all about fully immersing himself into the LGBTQ culture in order to do the role justice.
He said: "That's of course not what I meant at all. That discussion was about this play and how deeply grateful I am that I get to work on something so profound."
"It's a love letter to the LGBTQ community. We were talking about, "How do you prepare for something so important and so big?" and I was basically saying, I dive in as fully as I possibly can."
Tbh we can totally agree that Andrews words were misinterpreted and it's clear from the same discussion the actor is extremely honoured to be taking on his current role, which is a gay man suffering from AIDS and he described it as: "the most fulfilling creative experience I’ll ever hope to have."
Phew! Now that that's all cleared up Andrew can get back to enjoying his new show of choice, RuPaul's Drag Race of course.
