Andrew Garfield's First On-Screen Role Was A Spanish Doritos Ad
The Spider-Man star cringed as he watched the old commercial...
“What was your first role on camera after drama school?” host Michael asked the British-born star. Clearly Andrew’s Spidey sense was tingling as the star was instantly suspicious, replying with a drawn out: “Ooookaay.”
“You know what, I’m not ashamed of it actually,” he eventually responded. “I did a great commercial for Doritos in Spain and I had a great time doing it.”
While he didn’t have to speak Spanish for the role – in fact, he didn’t have any lines at all – the actor was required to do some improvisation: “I was playing air guitar but with a Dorito as a pick,” he recalled.
“It was great fun. It was my first ever time on camera and I thought, I’ve made it.” When asked if the ad had ever aired outside Spain, he replied: “No thankfully!”
Which is when Michael decided to surprise the star by playing the commercial then and there. “I will kill you,” Garfield laughed, although it turned out he had been trying to track it down himself.
“I’ve been searching for that for a long time,” he revealed.
