May 3rd marks World Press Freedom Day, as proclaimed by the UN General Assembly, way back in 1993. A chance to assess the current state of press freedom around the globe and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives for their work, this year’s main themes are Gender and Media, Digital Safety for Journalists and Independent And Quality Media.
