Angelina Jolie To Miss Unbroken Premiere ‘Due To Chicken Pox’
Actress forced to give up promotional duties after coming down with illness…
Angelina Jolie won’t be attending the Hollywood premiere of Unbroken as she has chicken pox.
Universal Pictures issued a video statement from a very spotty Angelina, who explained in person why she will not be there.
In the video message she said: "I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I would be missing the Unbroken events in the next few days, which is that I found out last night that I have chicken pox.
"So, I will be home itching and missing everyone and I can't believe it because this film means so much to me. I just can't believe it, but such is life."
Universal said Angelina will resume her press engagements "at the earliest opportunity" adding: "We all wish Angelina a speedy recovery and look forward to her returning to her work very soon. She is in very good spirits, considering after two years of hard work, she will not be there the night it finally premieres."
Luckily hubby Brad Pitt and the couple's children are well, and will be representing the actress at the movie's premiere on Monday (15 December).
Directed by Jolie and written by the Coen brothers, Unbroken is based on the harrowing true story of Olympic distance runner Louis Zamperini (Skins actor Jack O'Connell) and the incredible endurance he displayed while surviving a World War II bomber crash in the Pacific Ocean followed by years in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp.
Unbroken opens on 26 December in the UK.
