The New Angry Birds Game Merges With Real Life & It Has To Be Seen To Be Believed
Scan things in the real world to unlock hidden mini games and more!
The Angry Birds are back and this time their new game isn't just about flinging birds at piggies, you can unlock secrets from all over the world too.
Angry Birds Action! has just dropped to tie-in with the Angry Birds movie that's due to drop on 10 May. The game itself plays differently to its predecessors thanks to new pinball style controls and, as the trailer points out, plenty of explosions.
But it's the cool use of augmented reality that makes this really original. There are over one billion BirdCodes, as they're called, hidden in the world to be found and unlocked. These are essentially things you scan, using the game and your phone, to unlock mini-games, get free McDonalds Happy Meals, fling PEZ candies in game and more. Scanning H&M clothes, for example, is a way to unlock extras.
The really exciting BirdCode is hidden at the end of the movie, in the audio. So only game owners who go to the cinema will be able to access them. This will unlock the good old pigs that the original game is so famous for. Is it just a clever marketing stunt or will it be a fun game that merges the virtual and real worlds?
Angry Birds Action! is available to download now so you can find out for yourself!
