The Angry Birds Film Is Going To Be Hilarious…
…If the voice cast is anything to go by
Seeing as Angry Birds has 2.5 billion gamers worldwide (earth’s population is 7.1 billion, FYI), it was only a matter of time before it grew in the only direction it has left: Hollywood.
And Hollywood has not disappointed, delivering a vocal line up of some of the biggest humour heavy weights in cinema. Though we’ll have a little while to wait until trailers and teasers start surfacing, here’s a guide to the faces behind the feathers.
Peter Dinklage
It’ll be odd hearing Peter Dinklage’s voice in its native American, considering most fans have got used to him as the (kind of sort of British?) Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones. Turns out his real voice is pretty caramel smooth, as demonstrated in this throwback clip from Seinfeld:
Maya Rudolph
You’ll recognise Maya Rudoph’s face from Bridesmaids but her voice bends much further that you can imagine. Queen of Impressions (she’s taken on Beyonce for Saturday Night Live), we reckon she’ll bring a shed load of sass to the film.
Bill Hader
You’ll remember Bill Hader as a crooked cop from Superbad, and his voice from the lead in Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. He’ll be taking on a bad piggie shaped role in the film.
Danny McBride
In a role described as ‘volatile’, Danny McBride seems like the perfect guy for an animated film about angry birds. He and Bill Hader have been seen on the same line up before to hilarious results, so fingers crossed they can recreate!
Jason Sudeikis
Taking the lead role of Red, new dad Jason Sudeikis will no doubt be a hit on the playground when kids realise what his new job is. The usually jovial star can draw on his experience acting in stress filled Horrible Bosses for inspiration for his “bird with a temper problem” character.
