Michael Douglas Cast In Ant-Man Movie
Veteran actor to appear alongside Paul Rudd in superhero flick...
Paul Rudd had previously been announced as the star of the superhero project, which is being directed by Edgar Wright, and now it has emerged that Douglas will also take a pivotal part.
The 69-year-old star - who this week won at The Golden Globes - will be playing Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man in the comic books.
And he admitted in an interview that he is eager to do the project, so that his 13-year-old son will be able to see him in a film.
"I've been dying to do a Marvel picture for so long," he told Reuters. "The script is really fun, the director is really good.
"Dylan will love it. He'll have a picture he can see."
Rudd will be playing Scott Lang, who takes over the mantle of the character.
Marvel Studios' creative head Kevin Feige said: "With Hank Pym's rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves.
"We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn't be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life."
Ant-Man is slated for release next July.
