Calvin Harris At Apple Music Festival Was So Much More Than 'What We Came For'
London trio Disciples opened the show with 'They Don't Know’ and kept on sending tunes to warm up the crowd with including Gorgon City's ‘Imagination' and more, but they really sent the up-for-it crowd crazy when they delivered their Calvin Harris collab, 'How Deep Is Your Love’.
Our fave English crooner John Newman was next on stage and treated fans with a strong and powerful performance starting with 'Give Me Your Love'. The 26-year-old singer-songwriter offered us his best dance moves, running everywhere on stage while performing hits including 'Tiring Game', 'Olé', and 'Blame’ which had everyone singing along to.
During his set John decided to use the opportunity to thank the special people in his life: "I’m surrounded by incredible people tonight," he said, "with talent and great personalities and the people who make my life worth living. The first one being my mum, another being my lovely girlfriend, and my brother and my best mate, they’re all here."
The real gentleman, he thanked the team working at the festival too: "And these wonderful people I’m sharing the stage with and the other people doing the hard work back stage, make some noise for them."
And of course, the most important ones, the fans: "And trust me gigs would be so, so awful without you all, please make some noise for yourselves!" But not before thanking Calvin Harris for the track 'Blame' and his friendship, "but there's one reason I'm stood on this stage and that's because of my very, very good friend Calvin Harris."
He also made his feelings clear about producing music at the moment. "I think music doesn't have to be for releasing and having number ones, you commit to music to get s**t off your mind, right?” he said before continuing his incredible performance with 'Not Giving In' and his No.1 hit which made everyone go wild, 'Love Me Again’.
Our main host Calvin though electrified the crowd opening his mind-blowing 75 minute performance with 'Sweet Nothing’, his decks set on an impressive triangular stage design with amazing and tripping graphics and visuals, laser lights flashing everywhere, smoking machines and fireworks popping along the beats getting wilder and wilder.
Right after making us 'Bounce' to his single with Kelis, Calvin threw in his VMA-winning banger featuring Rihanna, ‘This Is What You Came For’ sending the crowd crazy.
The setlist also featured 'Under Control', 'Feel So Close', 'Spectrum (Say My Name)' and his collabs with Ellie Goulding 'Outside' and ' I Need Your Love’. Calvin also played one remix of his hit with John, ’Blame’ and finished this incredible night with his new single 'My Way’.
Thanks for the amazing party and the incredible show Calvin, please come back to make us dance again next year, with RiRi maybe?
