Apple CEO Tom Cook On 'Affordable' iPhone
Computer giant boss suggests new products could be in the pipeline...
AppleCEO Tim Cook has addressed the rumours that the computer giant is planning a cheaper version of its iPhone.
While he didn't explicitly confirm or deny the reports, Cook did admit that the company is looking at ways to make the device "more affordable".
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, he said: "We are making moves to make things more affordable. When we came out with iPod it was $399; today you can buy an iPod Shuffle for $49.
"Instead of saying how can we cheapen this iPod to get it lower, we said how can we do a great product, and we were able to do that. The same thing, but in a different concept, in some ways."
Some observers have interpreted his comments to suggest that Apple could be planning a new product incorporating elements of the iPhone's functionality.
One suggestion is an iOS-powered watch, which could have a curved glass display.
Apple last month announced a 128gb version of the iPad.
