Apple iPad Mini 2 'To Get Retina Display'
Next-gen model expected to have greatly improved screen resolution...
Apple's iPad Mini may only have been on sale for a week so far, but there is already speculation about what the computer giant has got up its sleeve for the next generation version of the device.
And gadget site Slashgear is reporting that the biggest improvement will be the adoption of the firm's popular Retina display.
Quoting Chinese IT site DO News, Slashgear says: "AU Optronics, which is one of Apple’s suppliers of 1024 x 768 panels for the current iPad mini, expects to begin mass producing 2048 x 1536 resolution 7.9-inch displays by the second half of 2013."
This will apparently give a resolution of 324 pixels per inch (PPI), compared to the current model's 163 PPI.
And it also seems that Apple plans to stick to its customary yearly updates with the device, despite recently announcing a new 4th generation iPad only months after the 3rd generation model.
