Airbnb, a network for people wishing to rent property, won the accolade of iPhone App Of The Year, while graphics application Paper - by FiftyThree - won the award for iPad App Of The Year.
Rayman Jungle Run was named iPhone Game Of The Year and The Room was the iPad Game Of The Year.
Cross-platform chat app WhatsApp Messenger was revealed as the best-selling non-gaming paid application of the year, while Apple's own word processing title Pages was the most-popular premium non-gaming application for the iPad.
The ad-free version of Rovio's Angry Birds Space was the top-selling games app on both iPhone and iPad.
YouTube's native app was the most-popular free download via iTunes.
