A Huge Hollywood A-lister Is Joining The Aquaman Movie

This is sounding GREAT.

DC's 'Aquaman 'is apparently on the brink of a major casting coup, with Nicole Kidman reportedly in talks to join the seafaring superhero epic. According to THR, the star is in early talks with Warner Bros, with the studio keen to sign her up as Aquaman's mother, Atlanna.

For those not up on their comic-book lore, Atlanna is a member of the Atlantean royal family, who hooks up (excuse the pun) with a human lighthouse keeper before giving birth to the titular hero. Apparently no deal has been struck yet, but we're hopeful on this one, as Kidman looks the perfect choice for the gig.

Meanwhile, 'The Get Down' star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has also been offered the chance to join proceedings, as the studio looks to get its ducks in a row before filming begins later this year. He's been tapped for the role of Black Manta, a super-suit wearing bad guy and one of the most iconic villains in the comic-book series.

Warner will be looking to get both deals sewn up ASAP, with cameras set to begin rolling in Australia in May. Directed by James Wan and co-starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard and Patrick Wilson, 'Aquaman' will open in the US on 5 October 2018, with a UK date to be confirmed.
