Fan Who Gatecrashed Ariana Grande's Gig Explains How And Why He Stormed The Stage
Teenage Phil Conley just wanted to say hi
Ariana Grande endured a stage invasion last week while on her Dangerous Woman Tour.
And now the teenager who managed to get on stage beside her has explained what he was thinking.
Ari was singing in Philadelphia on Wednesday when 15-year-old Phil Conley stormed the stage while she was mid-song.
However the teen says he just wanted to give the chart topper a hug – and he thought the concert had ended.
“She looked at us so I got the feeling that she saw me and at the end of the song when she was singing moonlight I thought the concert was over,” the teen told TMZ on Saturday as he explained himself.
“I said I want to meet her and just say hi and hug her. I was about to jump up when a security guard walked by so I stopped and as soon as he walked by I jumped and I was on stage,” he said.
Sounding surprised that he ended up on stage while the concert was still going on, Phil says he panicked.
“I didn’t want to interrupt her song and ruin the concert so I stayed back. I didn’t know what she was going to do. I waited and the security guards got my attention – they were all yelling at me. There were three or four of them to my left. That’s why I was there for 30 seconds I was talking to them,” he said.
He did eventually get a moment to say hi to the singer just before security pulled him away.
“At the end I said “I just want to say hi” and I went to hug her. I think I scared her a little bit but she smiled. That’s when the security guard picked me up,” he said.
