Now that Ariana Grande has confirmed she and Mac Miller are officially dating, it's his turn to have a chat about what brought them together and let's just say that was he has to say is about to melt your cold, deadened heart into something not dissimilar to apuddle of melted strawberry-scented marshmallow.

Earlier this week Ari headed into The Ellen Show and naturally host Ellen DeGeneres wasn't letting her get away without commenting on the increasing number of cute pics the pair have been posting of themselves hanging out.

After confirming that they are indeed a 'thing', Mac's also had some way cute things to say what exactly what it was that made them take their friendship to the next level.

Having worked together a few times over the years, the pair have been close for a while, but it was after he worked with her on My Favorite Part for his new album, The Divine Feminine,that things began to develop organically between them.

"I wrote that love song before I saw her," Mac tells People."We're very good friends first and foremost. We made that song and started becoming close again. It's very dope and I like how that worked out."

"It was great. There was no awkwardness or weirdness, it was how it always was," he adds.|Just both of us older, more mature and more sure of ourselves.

"When we first recorded together we were young and figuring it out, which we still are, but now seeing her growth and my growth – it's great."

But one thing is for sure and that's that friendship always comes first.

"We hung out for a long time and everything just happened organically," Mac adds."We love making music together – we do that always. But she's my best friend in the world."
