Lone Ranger star reportedly recruited to play alongside Tom Cruise...
The 26-year-old is claimed by The Hollywood Reporter to have been cast opposite TC in Guy Ritchie's remake of The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
Cruise was confirmed to have joined the cast last month - and will be taking the role of Napoleon Solo, made famous by Robert Vaughn in the hugely-popular 1960s spy series.
Hammer is expected to play Russian agent Illya Kuryakin, played by Scotsman David McCallum in the TV series.
The new Warner Brothers Pictures project has a chequered history. George Clooney was originally attached to play Solo with Steven Soderbergh directing, but Gorgeous George had to withdraw with a back injury.
After that the studio is thought to have considered a host of stars for the film, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling, Channing Tatum, Alexander Skarsgård, Ewan McGregor, Robert Pattinson, Matt Damon, Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender, Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Chris Pine and Jon Hamm.
