10:11, Monday, 19 October 2009

Alexandra Burke has hit the top spot, beating Robbie Williams’ come-back single Bodies to score her second number 1 single.

Bad Boys has now become the UK’s fastest selling single of the year so far by shifting a cool 185,000 copies in one week.

According to the Official Charts Company, Alexandra’s hit has sold more than double of Dizzee Rascal’s Bonkers, the previous best selling single of 2009.

Burke also had the biggest selling single of last year when her take on the Leonard Cohen classic Hallelujah went twice platinum.

Chipmunk, who hit the top spot with single Oopsy Daisy last week, completes the top three singles dropping two places as he predicted in our exclusive interview.

Alexandra will have a tough job holding onto the top spot for a second week as former X Factor mentor Cheryl Cole releases her first solo single Fight For This Love today.

The Girls Aloud beauty, who performed her track live on X Factor last night has already topped the i-Tunes chart after the single was available for download last night.

Meanwhile, in the album chart Editors pipped Chipmunk to the top spot with their latest offering In This Light And On This Evening.

The 18-year old rapper’s new album I Am Chipmunk entered the charts at number 2, whilst Madonna’s Celebration fell one place to number 3.
