UPDATE | Judge orders immediate release of Hip Hop star

19:21, Thursday, 25 September 2008

A British High Court judge has ordered that Hip Hop star Busta Rhymes be released immediately after the star was detained at London City Airport.

As MTV reported Busta real name - Trevor George Smith Jr, was denied entry due to "unresolved convictions in the USA".

Reports claim that in custody, Rhymes had been kept in a room measuring 7ft by 8ft watched by five armed police guards.

The Judge, Mr Justice Flaux - said it was arguable that Bustas detention was unlawful, saying:

It seems to me that it is difficult to see upon what basis the temporary admission of the claimant or his temporary release into the jurisdiction has been refused

In all the circumstances it seems to me that he is entitled to an order that he be released forthwith or alternatively is entitled to bail.

There will be a hearing tomorrows which will focus on the legality of the decision to refuse the rapper entry into the UK.
