Perry: "My Parents Don't Hate Me!"

The singer denies family feud rumours and denies she hates gay people too

Katy Perry has denied that shes feuding with her family, and insists that they do like her music. Earlier this month, Katys evangelical Christian preacher mum Mary Hudson reportedly described her daughters chart-topping single I Kissed A Girl as shameful and disgusting, and said she was disappointed in Katy for using the track to "promote homosexuality", prompting rumours of a family fallout.

In response, Katy has admitted that I Kissed A Girl and her previous single Ur So Gay arent exactly on high rotation on her mums evangelical iPod, but insists that both her parents are behind her and that they like all the other, gay-free, tracks on her One For The Boys album. "I'm sure they opt out of singing 'I Kissed a Girl' or 'Ur So Gay', said Katy. But they're singing along to every other song on the record.

They're just glad I'm not strung out, doing centrefolds and s**t like that."

And while Katys mum may think her daughters music promotes homosexuality, others have suggested that her track Ur So Gay is in fact homophobic. Katy doesnt agree though. In fact, she thinks gay people everywhere will grow to love it and use it to give them strength during times of heartbreak; kind of like a Will and Grace box-set.

"I think gay people have a wonderful sense of humour, she said. I think they'll get it and embrace it. It's an anthem for power of the people - for females, gays, exes, anybody who's been broken up with that wants to get over a guy."
