Metallica are are band that like to please their fans it seems!

Last month we reported that the metal gods are to play a one-off charity gig at London's O2 with tickets priced at just 5!

Now the band have said that the 15,00 fans attending the gig will not have to wait at box-offices to collect tickets and instead an innovative Paperless Ticketing system will be used.

Gig-goers using a credit or debit card to buy their tickets will not be sent a paper ticket but instead only have to swipe their payment card to gain entry into the venue.

This is the first time this system had been used within Europe.

Ticketmaster, the company pioneering the technology, claim this is not only better for fans but also helps reduce secondary ticket sales by touts:

"Metallica want to ensure that all the proceeds from this launch party to go directly to charity. They also want the audience to be all Fan Club and Mission Metallica members. By working closely with Ticketmaster and their Paperless Ticket technology we can deliver the band's wishes and minimise the possibility of charitable tickets being resold in the secondary market" said Ticketmaster.
