Muse won themselves another gong yesterday (2 July), taking home the top prize at the O2 Silver Clef Awards, in honour of the band’s philanthropic efforts.
Hosted by Sharon Osbourne, this was music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins’ 35th annual awards ceremony. The reality TV matriarch handed out gongs to an eclectic mix of entertainers, including JLS, Dizzee Rascal, Scouting For Girls, Kelis, Slash and WW2 songbird Dame Vera Lynn.
The event, at the London Hilton, also included an auction to raise money for the charity, which provides music therapy for the ill and disabled. Between them, Muse’s table spent nearly £40,000 on items, including £20,000 on a painting of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards by his bandmate Ronnie Wood.
According to reports, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy also successfully bid £7,000 on a diamond encrusted ring for his new girlfriend, Almost Famous actress Kate Hudson.
