Teamed with the catchy, in-ya-face melodies, one thing is clear: Portobella make songs with balls. The band came togetherwith a desire to make a record that sounded British in the traditions of some of the classic post punk acts. They have been influenced by a wide range of music over the years, including Police, Blondie, Transvision Vamp, Sex Pistols, The Jam, N*E*R*D & Roxy Music and Goldfrapp. Tired of formulaic safe pop, the product of endless Pop Idol and Fame Academy type shows, they felt that it was time for something different.
