The Stone Roses could reform for 2009- according to the bands bassist Mani.

He told The Sun that he still needs to persuade frontman Ian Brown to agree to a reunion.

Mani- who now plays bass in Primal Scream- said: Me, John and Reni are up for doing it and Ian just needs working on.

Next year is the 20th anniversary of the first album. Its the ideal time to do it. Its something I would love to do before we are all fat and bald.

After the trend started by the Spice Girls and Take That the indie world has recently cottoned on.

Blur and The Specials have both announced they're getting back together in the past couple of weeks.

There are even rumours that The Smiths could hit the comeback trail. But as with The Stone Roses we'll believe it when we see it!
