Though Wilson was most famous (in the south) for his record company he was also a renowned TV host.

In the late 70s he started Granada TVs So It Goes which supported punk early on and gave The Sex Pistols their TV debut.

Tony also featured The Clash, Siouxsie And The Banshees and Patti Smith on the innovative music show.

Most famously Wilson guided Joy Division and the Happy Mondays when they were signed to his Factory Records.

When Joy Division singer Ian Curtis committed suicide Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook formed New Order who also worked on Factory. Singer Sumner later performed with Electronic.

Anthony Wilsons contribution to music and in particular Manchesters scene is enormous and we may have never had bands like The Stone Roses and Oasis may never have been.
