Ashlee Simpson has hooked-up with the mighty Robert Smith on her new album, according to reports.

It would appear that the boards-treading pop minx, and sister of Jessica, has managed to get the Cure legend to sing alongside her on a track on her follow-up to 2005s I Am Me.

It was thought that Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz might have been responsible for the unlikely pairing, as hes' good mates with them both, but not so apparently. I doubt I had anything to do with it, said Pete, cos they were friends since she was performing in Chicago.

But I definitely only have good things to say about Ash - I think the collaboration could be great."

As well as Robert Smith, Simpson is also said to have impressively got Chad Hugo from The Neptunes and John Legend involved in her new offering. Oh and Tim Rice-Oxley from Keane.
