Ashley Graham Calls Out The Lack Of Plus-Size Models At Rihanna's Fenty x Puma Runway
Thinks it would've been "dope" to see some curvier models.
Rihanna's runway show for Fenty x Puma might've been a whirlwind from start to finish but one person who was left feeling a bit disheartened by the selection of models is Ashley Graham, who noticed a distinct lack of variation in the size of the women displaying the products.
Let's all get checking out an update from MTV News...
The 29-year-old has her own lingerie collection targeted towards plus-size women, and told Yahoo Style that she would've liked to see Rih embracing the fact that women don't come in a one-size fits all stock shape.
“I was at Fenty last night, and that was an amazing show. But how dope would it have been to see some curves on the runway?” Ashley said. “It was a very diverse group of women, which was really nice,” she added.
“I think there’s some designers who might want to have curves on the runway but haven’t figured it out maybe? It’s funny to me, because I’ll look at runways and think, I’d look so great in those clothes or, I know curvy women who would look so great in those clothes.”
Rihanna herself has always been one to embrace diversity. Her Fenty Beauty collection recently hit headlines for offering up a wide variety of skin shades, with the deeper tones flying off shelves before stores even had a chance to think about calling in a restock.
Let's just hope the modelling indsustry starts to take notice of the fact that women come in a whole range of different shapes and sizes, and that every single one should be celebrated as being beautiful.
